Microblading and Powder brows (shading)

Combo brows is a combination of two forms of semi-permanent techniques: Microblading and Powder brows (shading).

The powder effect is applied to the body of the brow using a permanent makeup device to give the brow its fullness.

Combo Brows are great for clients with normal to moderately oily skin. So if your skin is too oily for Microblading alone, combo brows might be a viable alternative. For someone with very sparse brows, the shading can give the brow more body, while the hair-strokes keep it looking natural.

HOW LONG DO COMBO BROWS LAST?

Since pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade over time. The results can last anywhere between 2-4 years depending on skin type, lifestyle, age and how often you get touch-ups.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED FOR A NEW SET OF COMBO BROWS?

A new set of Combo eyebrows takes two appointments to complete. It needs two visits to ensure that all the strokes are evenly saturated with pigment. The second appointment is called a touchup and takes place 6 to 8 weeks after the initial appointment after the pigments settled into the skin. In this touchup, the artist makes any needed adjustments and ensures each hair-stroke has even color.

HOW DO I MAINTAIN MY NEW COMBO BROWS?

I recommend yearly touchup, after the initial touchup, to maintain the crispness and freshness of the color. Natural fading occurs from external factors such as exposure to the sun as well as internal factors such as the gradual break down of pigments as your body metabolizes it out of your system. Everyone can experience the fading process differently and it really comes down to skin type and lifestyle.

WHAT CAUSES COMBO BROWS TO FADE PREMATURELY?

Ombre powder brows have their lifespan, but certain factors can speed up their fading.

The main cause of premature fading is sunlight exposure and tanning beds. You should always try to keep your brows out of the sun. Also, they tend to fade faster on oily skin and on clients with certain medical conditions.

Mechanical damage can lead to fading, too. You should avoid exfoliation (both scrubs and chemical peels) on the treated area.

LONG LASTING RESULTS

Having thin, uneven, or patchy eyebrows, can be challenging. Spending countless hours in front the mirror, feeling insecure, trying to fix them will make your head spin. Going out at night and worrying if they got smudged or out of place can make you feel hesitant and unsure.

The average lifespan of Microbladed brows is 18 months to 2 years, while ombre brows last longer due to the technique used – 2 to 3 years, but they can last even longer with touch ups.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT

If you have an ideal shape or color in mind, bring those reference photos with you to your appointment. You may also fill in your eyebrows as you normally would to share your desired outcome. If you regularly get your eyebrows waxed or threaded, please do so 72 hours before your service.

If you show up for your appointment with a recent tan or sunburn, you will be asked to reschedule resulting in loss of deposit. Excessive sun exposure before and/or after your treatment may cause the eyebrows to fade into a lighter ashy hue.

If you have a previous eyebrow tattoo or Microblading, please email a photo for approval prior to scheduling a service

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

We recommend yearly touch ups to keep the color fresh. It varies from client to client, but it can be 9 months to 2 years, depending on the client’s skin type and life style.

Most of my clients report little or no pain. Often they say it’s a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10, at most. Some clients have literally slept through the appointment! We leave a topical anesthetic on the eyebrow area for 20 minutes before we begin the process, so this leaves most clients totally numb during the procedure.

You must avoid working out for 7 days following your microblading appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you must clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.
