PERMANENT MAKEUP

WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Permanent makeup (PMU), also known as cosmetic tattooing or micropigmentation, is a semi-permanent procedure that enhances facial features by implanting pigment into the skin. Using advanced techniques and specialized tools, PMU artists create natural-looking enhancements for eyebrows, eyeliner, lips, and even scalp or areola pigmentation. The results typically last between one to five years, depending on factors such as technique, pigment type, skin type, and lifestyle.

This procedure is an excellent option for those looking to save time on daily makeup routines, achieve a more balanced look, or address concerns related to hair loss, alopecia, or scarring.

Eyebrow Enhancement Techniques

PMU for eyebrows includes several techniques tailored to different preferences and skin types. Microblading uses ultra-fine needles to create delicate, hair-like strokes for a natural look, making it ideal for dry to normal skin. Ombre or Powder brows provide a soft, shaded effect that resembles filled-in makeup, particularly suitable for oily or mature skin. Combination brows blend Nano and Shading techniques, while Nano brows, performed with a digital machine, deliver ultra-fine, realistic strokes with long-lasting results.

The Permanent Eyebrow Process

A PMU session begins with a consultation, where Marina assesses skin type, facial structure, and personal preferences. The next step involves mapping and shaping the brows to ensure symmetry and balance before applying a topical anesthetic for comfort. Once the pigment is carefully selected to match natural hair color and skin tone, Marina’s process begins using either a manual hand tool or a machine, depending on the technique chosen.

After the procedure, the healing process takes approximately 7 to 14 days. During this time, mild scabbing and flaking may occur as the pigment settles into the skin. A follow-up session, scheduled four to eight weeks later, ensures color retention and any necessary adjustments.

Standard Microblading

Involves creating hair-like strokes with a manual tool to mimic natural eyebrow hairs. Best for people with normal to dry skin who want a natural-looking enhancement.

Powder Brows/Ombre Brows

Uses a stippling method to create a soft, powdered effect, similar to the look of filled-in brows with makeup. Best for those with oily or sensitive skin, or anyone looking for a more defined, makeup-like appearance.

Combo Brows (Hybrid Brows)

A combination of Nano and Ombre brows technique to achieve both hair-like strokes and a soft shading effect. Best for individuals seeking the natural look of microblading with the added definition of microshading.

Nano Brows

Similar to microblading but uses a machine with ultra-fine needles to create even more precise and detailed hair strokes. Best for clients looking for a highly natural and precise brow design, suitable for all skin types.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

A yearly touch-up is recommended to maintain the shape and color, though some clients may need one as early as nine months, while others may go up to two years.

Most clients describe the sensation as minimal discomfort, rating it around a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. Some even find the process relaxing and fall asleep during the procedure.

It’s essential to avoid intense workouts for 48 hours post-treatment. Light activity is allowed, but sweat should be gently wiped away with lukewarm water to prevent premature pigment fading.

Clients are encouraged to bring reference photos or fill in their brows as they normally would to communicate their desired look. Those who wax or thread their brows should do so at least 72 hours before the appointment. A recent tan or sunburn can interfere with the healing process, and clients with excessive sun exposure before or after treatment may experience pigment fading into an ashy tone.

If you show up for your appointment with a recent tan or sunburn, you will be asked to reschedule resulting in loss of deposit. Excessive sun exposure before and/or after your treatment may cause the eyebrows to fade into a lighter ashy hue.
